This is my final poster. I combined multiple ideas and shapes to relay a message to my audience such as the circular spotlight to highlight the badger and typographical features such as statistics to deliver information and inform people of current issues. I also chose to add a moon to make it more obvious that I am raising awareness for being careful driving at night. The baby badger being outside of the spotlight suggests that when you aren’t careful driving, … Continue reading “Final poster”
Draft poster design
I drafted my poster in illustrator and overall was extremely happy with the last result. My first step was creating the base of my poster, I made sure the poster was A1 dimensions in portrait mode. After I had done this, I created the baby badger from my original poster idea. I did this by taking the adult badger, ungrouping the illustration and copying the body, I then created a completely new head for the baby using the pen tool. … Continue reading “Draft poster design”
Designing with photography
I decided to combine the image of a wine glass and an apple as I couldn’t easily photograph any aspects of my poster idea. Firstly I took some photos of the apple and glass. I wanted to achieve some interesting effects by experimenting with the backgrounds and surroundings, this made it more challenging to edit but overall I am proud of the final product. I used photoshop to create my final design. Firstly I dragged the photos into photoshop and … Continue reading “Designing with photography”
Drawing in Adobe Illustrator
Experimenting with shapes and imagery for my poster One of the key images of my poster is the badger and I wanted to focus on this first. I used the pen tool with my mouse to draw everything in this post. I knew from the beginning that I was attempting to create a modern looking poster with an up to date illustration style. I looked at references of badgers to make sure that I got the key shapes right. This … Continue reading “Drawing in Adobe Illustrator”
Conceptual Design Ideas- Poster
For my wildlife conservation poster, I have decided to focus on advocating country road awareness at night. I want to come up with a design solution that will be emotive enough to make a difference, just like the examples in my last blog post. I initially thought of making a poster about fox hunting and badger baiting (hence the dog mouths) however this is already illegal and rarely practised, roadkill however is still a common issue. I started thinking of … Continue reading “Conceptual Design Ideas- Poster”
Poster Subject, Purpose and Audience
For my poster I have decided to focus on something that I am passionate about which is wildlife conservation. I am aiming to create a poster that raises awareness for British wildlife conservation and encourages people to take action. My audience will be families and people of all ages, aiming to reach as many people as possible. I could see my poster being displayed in wildlife reserves and around countryside areas urging people to take action where it is most … Continue reading “Poster Subject, Purpose and Audience”
Typographical logo
Designing with shapes For this task we were asked to explore shapes and composition and come up with a graphic based around our current typographical logo. Firstly, I plotted some guidelines to experiment with the composition of my graphic. This is what I came up with in the end. I liked the cross section in the top left as it reminded me of where the moon would usually sit in a painting. This is where I decided to place my … Continue reading “Typographical logo”
Typographical logo
Adding colour I first decided how I was going to remove my name from the logo. I decided to change the lettering to say ‘Chart readings’ (referring to star charts). I figured out that the crescent moon used for my second name would work well as the capital C in ‘Chart readings’ as well as this, the moon relates to the reading of the stars. I ended up watching a tutorial on how to achieve a clean crescent moon shape … Continue reading “Typographical logo”
Purpose and audience
Analysing design choices. https://www.horoscope.com/us/index.aspx This is the website that I analysed. This website offers free horoscopes, zodiac and tarot readings. Their audience will presumably be spiritual people, the age and gender are so variant that the designs must be universal and acceptable to a multitude of beliefs and people. The logo itself is a modern bold font. The bold typeface allows the logo to use the same gradient colour palette. The type is simple and modern perhaps to appeal to … Continue reading “Purpose and audience”
Typographical logo
This week we were asked to create a typographical logo using our names and incorporating themes and images that reflect design influences in our life. I chose to focus on astrology and spirituality when creating my logo. I first sketched up some ideas. I gathered ideas of things that I could incorporate into my logo. I had the most ideas for the religion and myth section. I had trouble coming up with ideas straight from my head and found it … Continue reading “Typographical logo”
