‘Marsh’ notes

This week we were asked to read through a scan titled ‘The 5 Main Ingredients of UX’ written by Joel Marsh. I read through the scan, made notes and chose three key questions from each of the 5 ingredients. The excerpt starts by suggesting that UX design is a process and that these 5 things should always be kept in mind throughout the process. The first ingredient is ‘Psychology’ which says that UX designers study users subjective thoughts and feelings … Continue reading “‘Marsh’ notes”

Bauhaus design influence

The Bauhaus movement was an incredibly influential 20th century movement that pushed the idea of blending arts and craftsmanship. The key features of Bauhaus are: geometrical forms, bold colour and simplicity. Many things such as architecture, graphic design and fine art were influenced by this movement. This week we were asked to find things around us that we think may have been influenced by the movement. Here are my findings: Above are my initial sketches based off of the images … Continue reading “Bauhaus design influence”

Medium.com article reviews

This week we were asked to read, review and summarise three articles from the website ‘Medium’. The first article was called: ‘User Experience Design Process’ by Saadia Minhas published in January 2018. I understand that this article is a little older than the others that I reviewed however I was interested to see what the process of UX design looked like. This article started off with a quote that really inspired me: “The primary factor of your success lies in … Continue reading “Medium.com article reviews”

Final poster

This is my final poster. I combined multiple ideas and shapes to relay a message to my audience such as the circular spotlight to highlight the badger and typographical features such as statistics to deliver information and inform people of current issues. I also chose to add a moon to make it more obvious that I am raising awareness for being careful driving at night. The baby badger being outside of the spotlight suggests that when you aren’t careful driving, … Continue reading “Final poster”

Renders video

Unfortunately I couldn’t make this work as Maya kept crashing when trying to render my assets so only 3 of my original 10 assets are included in this video. I also struggled with the Adobe after effects but ended up eventually rendering my video successfully. I couldn’t save the animation as a .MP4 on after effects – so I imported the video into premiere rush in order to do so. This is the final video.

What I would do differently next time

Firstly , I’d of course want to improve on the aspects of this project that I struggled with. Of course I would want to improve on my modelling skills and subsequently get to know the interface on a deeper level so that I could continue to improve and create more complicated and sophisticated models. I would like to work on making more complicated polygons by manipulating the simple polygons that I know how to work with, and I think I … Continue reading “What I would do differently next time”

Rendering and lighting techniques I used

To illuminate my assets I used the directional light option and added multiple lights to my scene. I increased the intensity as needed in order for the rendered asset to turn out well. When the directional light is added into my scene I press ‘6’ in order to show the lighting and how it effects my asset. Doing this creates these red arrows around my asset which shows the direction of the light. After I was happy with the light … Continue reading “Rendering and lighting techniques I used”

Texturing techniques I used

I really enjoyed texturing my assets. I used some stock textures from this website : https://freestocktextures.com/ and added my own editing onto them. Freestocktextures.com. 2021. Free Stock Textures. [online] Available at: <https://freestocktextures.com/> [Accessed 13 January 2021]. But I also ended up creating my own textures in photoshop too using the paint tool. In order to texture my assets – I would firstly go into the UV editor and create a UV snapshot of my asset by going to ‘Image – UV … Continue reading “Texturing techniques I used”
