In this development log I will discuss and log my process of creating the main practical element of my Major project. In this project I will create a tattoo studio brand displayed in the form of a website made using ‘Elementor’. Alongside this, there will also be separate portfolios for 3 or 4 different fictional artists. I will be using my research from the previous assignment to create varying styles and portfolios for each artist. This project does stray a little from what my initial research was, however I will be utilising this research when I can, especially in the design of the artists portfolios.
The first thing I did to start this project was plan how I wanted the website to look and what I wanted the brand to feel like. I did this by planning how each ‘Elementor’ post would look and the number of pages that would feature on the website. Whilst planning how I wanted everything to feel UX wise, I also had to plan what I wanted to feature in the portfolio of each artist, as I had spent a lot of time researching different styles of tattooing in my research, I wanted to ensure that each artist had a different style that I could include in their information and portfolio.
I also planned the official branding of the studio, their target audience and what the unique selling point of our studio and website should be. I made a mind map to show all the different ideas I had as you can see in Figure 1. My first initial thought was that I needed to find a gap in the market, and I will go on to talk about in more detail later in this development log. My plan is to make the studio feel as welcoming and inclusive as possible using as many design features to do so, and I would also like to create a page on the website in which the customer can use augmented reality to try on the tattoo before they commit to it.
