Rendering and Set Up

When I had finished animating my character I began to set up the video. This included creating cameras and light and rendering the videos. When I was creating the cameras and lighting I was thinking about how I could create the most dynamic scene. I experimented with different cameras and types of lighting to try and achieve this. The first thing I did was create the cameras. To do this, firstly I went to ‘Create’ and made a camera. I … Continue reading “Rendering and Set Up”

The Animation Process and Principles of Animation

When my character had been fully rigged and weight painted, I started with the animation process. Firstly I made sure to save a separate copy of my fully rigged character ready to go, and created new save files for each animation. To animate my character I would place the keyframe at the start of the timeline, then I would position my character in the way I wanted, select over everything and press ‘S’ on the keyboard to capture the keyframe. … Continue reading “The Animation Process and Principles of Animation”

Weight Painting

When I had a fully rigged character I was able to move on to ‘Weight Painting’. Weight painting ensures that if I moved one part of the body another part of the body will not move with it and therefore creates more realistic movement. Unfortunately my characters mesh was split into a lot of different sections so the weight painting was quite difficult. I started with the head, including the eyes. I would change the values to one by using … Continue reading “Weight Painting”

Rigging

The first step in the animation process was to rig my character, I had to use a premade character provided on Canvas as my original character would not work. I chose the ‘waitress character’. The first thing I had to do was create the joints using the ‘Create Joints’ tool in the skeleton menu and clicking on the model where I wanted the joints to be. Luckily I only had to create joints for one side of my model (minus … Continue reading “Rigging”

Pre-Production and Inspiration

To start with, I planned what animations I wanted to create and how they would connect to my characters personality. I knew from the beginning that I would have to make these animations with a different character provided on Canvas, as my model wouldn’t work. Because of this I had to try and present her personality using animation. The first animation I wanted to create was a basic walk cycle to ease me in to the animation process. Estry (my … Continue reading “Pre-Production and Inspiration”

Reflection

Overall, I really enjoyed working in a team especially with Corey and Joey. It was nice to work with people who had similar taste and ideas to myself. I think that we produced a cohesive brand and all of our designs work well together, we also managed to keep up with each other even in sometimes difficult circumstances. In this experience I learnt that communication and assertiveness is the easiest way to create a cohesive project. About halfway through our … Continue reading “Reflection”

Design Process

We started by researching our target market and mind mapping names, colours and logo ideas as ‘research arms a graphic designer with knowledge, making it easier to create something that the client will love’ (Admin, 2021) Once we knew our target market and the name of our brand I designed the logo which features a raccoon. I chose the raccoon as it is a popular animal with our target audience and it has an instantly recognisable face. The logo is … Continue reading “Design Process”

Leadership and Teamwork

Our group generally worked well together. Corey was the team leader however I felt that all of us had a good amount of input regarding the direction that our project took. As we were a group of friends it was easy to communicate our ideas with each other and what we liked and didn’t like however I do think there was a breakdown in communication towards the middle of our project. We are creative individuals and were extremely passionate about … Continue reading “Leadership and Teamwork”
