In this blog post I will introduce my character idea, her backstory and some of her key information.
The initial idea for my character was a demon queen who ruled the underworld. I imagine my demon queen character to appear in a fantasy comic series or a fantasy open world video game.
Basic character description
Name: Estry – (comes from Jewish folklore – name for a female vampire)
Age: 120
Gender: Female
Race: Royal Demon – a higher more intelligent form of demon almost like a high elf. Immortal.
Zodiac: Aries – (fire sign: natural leader, dominant, impulsive)
Main personality traits: Hot-headed, intelligent, intimidating, alluring, flirtatious, independent.
Occupation: Queen of the Underworld
Backstory
Estry is from a long line of underworld rulers that have always been male. Her dad was the notorious Satan and she also had a brother (Fenrir) who was due to one day take over the throne (women were at that point, unable to take over the throne). Estry grew up with no mother as tragically when Estry was young her mum attempted to escape the underworld and from her abusive husband Satan, she was found in her attempt and was therefore exiled into the furthest depths of hell (only Satan knows where) locked up and never to see her family or daughter again.
When growing up Estries dad and brother would constantly doubt, abuse and shame her for being a woman and being incapable of taking the crown, Estry hated Satan and Fenrir and needed revenge for the years of abuse on her and her mum. She decided to murder her brother and Satan, she stabs them, destroying their physical body and sentencing their soul to drift around the underworld hopelessly for eternity with no power and no consciousness (the demon version of death). When killing her father she asks him where her mother is locked up to which he replies by muttering a curse at her that removes her immortality, Estry is slowly dying. The only remedy for the curse is to continuously collect souls to keep her alive, if she can keep doing this she will live a long life. Estry has proof of this curse in the form of a black mark/tattoo all up her arm. After the murders she collects the royal staff and reigns as queen over the underworld.
