I knew that as the USB stick was a relatively simple model I wanted to play with the textures and colouring of my model. I decided that whatever model I created I would pay extra attention to the texturing. Initially the desk was overly simple and I didn’t really like the shape. I decided that I would play with the design and shape as I modelled to find something I liked. The spy camera was inspired heavily by my research … Continue reading “Asset notes 2”

In the notes and illustrations above I planned out the basics of how I want my assets to look. For the monitor I knew that I wanted to texture the asset to look as if it had a screen and desktop and I knew that I wanted to design a rusty and old looking safe full of coins. I also decided how I would display my safe – I chose to model the door open so it looked as if … Continue reading “Asset notes 1”

Secret camera and crate Overall, I’m really happy with how the texturing went on the secret camera. I used photoshop to design the rainbow and the camera, then I created the visuals featured on the buttons in Illustrator and imported them into photoshop to finish off my texture

Desk + USB stick Here are the rendered versions of my desk and USB stick. I really enjoyed texturing the USB stick, I created the whole texture using the brush tool in photoshop and then experimenting with the placement of the design in Maya.

Briefcase and pencil pot These are some of my other assets that I modelled, textured and illuminated. I designed the pencils’ texture completely in photoshop.

Crate and walkie talkie These are the rendered, textured and illuminated versions of my models. I created the design of the coins and also the buttons of the walkie talkie in photoshop.

Secret camera and crate. This is my secret/small camera, I took inspiration from this image and reference. Amazon.co.uk. 2017. Hankermall Mini Spy Camera Secret Camera 1080P Spy Camera With IR Night Vision & Motion Detection, Small Surveillance Camera For Home. [online] Available at: <https://www.amazon.co.uk/HankerMall-Camera-Secret-Detection-Surveillance/dp/B07798Z52L> [Accessed 14 January 2021]. I found this camera easy to model but I had a lot of fun making and especially texturing it. I then created this crate as my final asset:

Desk and USB stick This is the desk I modelled. I used a lot of different polygons to create the shape of desk I wanted. I also inserted lots of edge loops to ensure that the shape of the polygons wouldn’t warp when smoothed. This is a USB stick. This was easy to make however I had a few issues with texturing it at the beginning so I had to find new ways to create the shape I wanted.

Briefcase and pencil pot This briefcase was easy to create, however I struggled making the shape of the handle. I eventually manipulated vertices to create the shape that I wanted. This is my pencil pot, overall I am really happy with the effect that I created.
