Design Inspiration

My family are very spiritual and I grew up with a lot of symbolism in my life, I feel like a lot of this has influenced my art and my creative thinking especially in my later years when I did art and design at A Level . Religion and art are both subjects that interest me deeply and I have always been interested in the way they have linked throughout history. Forms such as the human figure and nature have had a strong impact on my creativity and also my work as an illustrator.

Both of my parents have had a significantly large impact on my creative journey. My dad introduced me to films by artists such as Tarkovsky, and has also taught me French over the years. I feel this has had a big impact on my creativity, seeing the creative perspectives of different cultures has definitely influenced my designer self. My mum is also an artist and has a degree in illustration which means I have been exposed to art and art history with frequent visits to galleries. I have always been an artist and am influenced by artists such as Francis Bacon, Ensor and Van Gogh which all have similar themes.

Horror films have always sparked my inspiration I am a big fan of paintings and sculptures that include these themes (such as the painting above). The thrill of horror films is what inspires me most, this is also present in video games that I love such as Skyrim, Borderlands and Fallout. Video games have had a big influence on me, from a young age I would always play Playstation with my sister hence why I have a great influence from video games. The graphics, music and fantasy elements have inspired me to pursue the artist career path and also the desire to create graphics that inspire and thrill others.
